Top 5 looks from Versace's 2022 fall/winter collection

Versace’s 2022 Fall/Winter Collection has just been debuted at Milan Fashion Week, and all I have to say is that they have outdone themselves. “With unapologetic certainty, the Versace Woman for Fall-Winter 2022 fully owns her allure and knows exactly when to unleash her power,” read Versace’s Official Website.

Versace never misses a beat, so she has without a doubt clocked Gen Z’s newfound affection for the mini skirt. Hers came in raw-edged tweed, houndstooth checks, and denim. She doubled down on latex, which found its way into almost every fit. And this year, corsetry was the mantra!

Reminiscent of the house’s designs from the late 90s and early 2000s, we saw iterations of the iconic clubbing era that defined the quintessential ‘Versace Girl’. Replicas of Atelier’s bustier, shoulder-padded blazers, and slinky fitted dresses made a comeback.

The collection has a total of 49 looks. Take a look at our top 5:

The show opened with a timeless tailored all-black look: a corseted blazer paired with fluid black trousers and sultry latex gloves. This look exudes confidence and power and gives us some major girl boss vibes!

Versace’s signature colour palette continued in this collection: deep red, charcoal, and black with cameos of avocado, pink, purple, and cerulean blue. This olive green corset-cinched satin dress paired with red Medusa platform pumps immediately demanded my attention.

If you are searching for an outfit to make your post-omicron debut, Versace has got you covered with Look No. 37: a larger-than-life red faux fur jacket with omnipresent latex leggings.

The shoulder-padded and oversized look were weighed to the extreme in Look No. 7: a massive cerulean blue peacoat with bold shoulders and an exaggerated lapel paired with pinstripe work pants and a delicate pink corseted top.

Gigi Hadid donned the glossy red runway in a long-sleeved dress with a sheer stomach cut-out, rounded off with red latex leggings. This look was without a doubt my highlight of the show.

This year’s collection was built upon the glamour of last winter’s collection, which featured bright colours, detailed panelling as well as platform heels. Overall, Versace’s 2022 Fall/Winter Collection was a wild ride: brighter, shinier, with a hint of seductive, created for a post-pandemic world.
