It is not every day we see people making history. But when we talk of Taylor Swift, we should always be prepared to see her reaching the heights of stardom and success. After receiving global recognition for her highly-anticipated re-released album Fearless (Taylor’s Version), she came into the spotlight again for her historic achievement during the ceremony at the O2 Arena in London.
Taylor Swift was the epitome of confidence when she bagged the Global Icon Award at the 2021 BRIT Awards on Tuesday (May 11th). She thereby made history by being the first female, the first non-British, and the youngest artist to ever do so. The award was presented to her by the Game of Thrones star, Maisie Williams. "Anyone who knows me at all knows that Game of Thrones is my life,” Swift said while fangirling over the actress who portrayed Arya Stark. She went on to thank her friends (Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Zoë Kravitz, Griff, and Annie Lennox) who appeared in the sizzle reel montage bearing testimonies to her contributions to the music industry.
Although Taylor Swift looked stunning in her two-piece Miu Miu outfit, it was ultimately her speech which captivated the world. She delivered a powerful speech that regenerated the energy in people to chase their dreams. “There is no career path that comes free of negativity,” she said. “If you’re met with resistance, it probably means you’re doing something new. If you’re experiencing turbulence or pressure, it probably means you’re rising”.
Taylor Swift, who released three albums (Folklore, Evermore, and Fearless) during the pandemic, urged the viewers not to let criticism dull their spirits. “There might be times when you put your whole heart and soul into something, and it is met with cynicism or skepticism, but you can’t let it crush you; you have to let it fuel you,” she implored. “We live in a world where anyone can say anything they want about you at any time, but just remember that you have the right to prove them wrong”.
She ended her speech with an adoring flying kiss to all her British fans who were present at the ceremony.
Re-painting the world RED!
Taylor Swift left the nation astounded once again by announcing that she’ll be re-releasing her version of the Grammy-nominated album Red this fall on November 12th. It will be her second re-issue after her Fearless (Taylor’s Version) album. Swift explained in a note on Twitter that Red resembled a heartbroken person. "It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past,” she wrote. “I’m not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in passionate solidarity, or if it was simply time, but something was healed along the way”. Thus, Taylor Swift is, once again, on her way to global domination and winning hearts as she always does.
