5 extraordinary fashion moments from the BRIT Awards 2022

The BRIT Awards is the greatest night on the UK's musical calendar and that night's ceremony served as a reminder of why it is such a momentous occasion. The BRITS 2022 represented a significant milestone in the United Kingdom's return to normalcy since it was the first time the awards were held in front of a complete audience since 2020, with the world's biggest musical artists taking to the stage once more. Adele, who swept the board and won Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for "30", and British Song of the Year for "Easy on Me", was the major winner of the evening.

The first BRITS Awards without gendered categories were held this year, and women and female-fronted bands dominated, taking home ten of the fifteen awards. Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Becky Hill, and Dua Lipa all won awards for the best new artist. Not only was it a huge night for women in music, but it was also a fashion highlight. Although all well-known artists were beautifully dressed up for their big day, here are the 5 most extraordinary looks that stood out:

1. Adele

Adele made three breathtaking outfit changes during Friday night's BRIT Awards. To begin the night, she presented a timeless Armani Privé black gown with a beautiful tulle collar. Adele then walked the stage in a gold sequin gown by Valentino Couture with an off-the-shoulder neckline and ruffled sleeves. Finally, the actress changed into a Marianna Senchina tuxedo jacket-inspired gown to accept her award.

2. Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo can be recognized as one of the most talented young artists in the global music industry right now with numerous hit songs. She picked show-stopping sequins, like Adele's Valentino moment. The diva wore a silver Alexandre Vauthier gown, which she paired with strappy black Giuseppe Zanotti wedge heels. Rodrigo is proving to be a sartorial force to be reckoned with, based on her recent red-carpet appearances and past vintage Chanel looks.

3. Joy Crookes

Crookes wanted to honor her South Asian ancestors. She was born in Lambeth to a Bengali mother and has always been inspired by her heritage. She created the perfect attire by drawing inspiration from South Indian films. Completing her look with a Bhavya Ramesh Kamar bandh and a bejeweled hooded cape, Crookes wanted to emphasize her look's "joy-isms."

The dress was designed by Natalie Roar, which took her six weeks to finish. She also embellished the asymmetrical skirt and blouse with Swarovski crystals. Crookes accessorized her outfit with gold jewelry to pull the outfit together.

4. Little Simz

The singer was dressed to impress, performing her famous single ‘Woman’ while wearing a full Gucci outfit. Simz wore massive Gucci shoes with fitted pants printed with the iconic Gucci logo and a stylish blazer with feathered cuffs to complete the look.

Simz, who also won the award for Best New Artist, performed during the evening. "I am living proof that if you work hard at something, no matter where you come from, no matter your background and your race, you can do something extraordinary," she told the audience as she took her award.

5. Maya Jama

As the Brit Awards co-host, Maya Jama was the first to walk the red carpet at the event, wearing a stunning two-piece outfit consisting of a black cut-out crop top and a full-length black skirt with cut-out detail at the waist. Kyle De'Volle designed the stunning two-piece set for the co-host matching it with a faux fur stole. Bvlgari jewelry and black Mach & Mach mules completed her attire for the night.

The two-piece outfit was inspired by Cher and was part of the label's summer-spring 2021 collection.

Looking back at the 2022 BRIT Awards, all the celebrities invited to the event deserved to be there for their music. Their fashion, however, was a bonus for the fans viewing the event. The top-notch fashion choices helped cement their presence at the event in everyone’s mind, which we can see with the choices made. With Adele, Olivia Rodrigo, Joy Crookes, Little Simz, and Maya Jama’s outfits being presented in front of you, which one was your favorite?
